Our Club is devoted to developing members skills in fine woodworking and to give back to the community of which we are a member.
Our members undertake their own self-directed projects. But that doesn't mean that newer members are left to flounder without help. Members help each other with helpful tips and advice, along with a laugh or two as well. Given lots of patience, a willingness to undertake trial and error, make mistakes and learn by doing, members' skills grow and before you know it you'll be assisting newer members as they in turn learn.
Along with member's own projects we also make hundreds and hundreds of toys and other items for several charities. For more details of our charity support go to About/Charities we support on the menu bar.
In 2004 the Shire Woodworking Club first provided toys and other items to the Sydney Children's Hospital. Since then our relationship has grown closer and both the Hospital and the Club enjoy the mutually beneficial relationship. An "average" year sees the Club provide about 1,200 items to the Sydney Children's Hospital.
For more details about our support of charities that are child focussed please refer to the "Charities We Support " section on the "About" page.
